Trust & Security

Your money data, on your terms.

This page describes the controls BudgetIQ has in place today. It is maintained by the BudgetIQ team and is not an independent certification.

No online-banking passwords

BudgetIQ only accepts statement uploads (CSV, spreadsheet, PDF, or receipt photo). We never ask for your online-banking username or password, and we don't screen-scrape your bank.

Encrypted in transit and at rest

All traffic between your browser and BudgetIQ is served over HTTPS. Your transactions, statements, and account data are stored in an encrypted managed database.

Row-level security

Every row of data in BudgetIQ is protected by row-level security policies. Only the authenticated account that owns a transaction can read or modify it — including us.

You own your data

Your budget, categories, transactions, and reports are your data. We don't sell it. We don't share it with advertisers. There is no third-party analytics pixel tracking your finance activity.

Export or delete anytime

Export everything as CSV whenever you want. Deleting your account permanently removes all of your transactions, statements, and reports — no soft-delete, no dark patterns.

One place for privacy requests

Data access, correction, or deletion requests go to privacy@budgetiq.app and are handled directly by the founding team.

What BudgetIQ does not do

  • We do not sell anonymized or aggregated transaction data to advertisers, brokers, or credit bureaus.
  • We do not run advertising inside the app — there is no ad surface, so there is no incentive to profile you.
  • We do not have access to your bank login credentials because we never ask for them.
  • We do not claim independent SOC 2 / ISO 27001 audit certifications. We describe the controls we actually run — no more.

Shared responsibility

BudgetIQ is responsible for the platform: encryption in transit and at rest, row-level security, uptime, backups, and secure handling of your uploaded statements.

You are responsible for the account: choosing a strong password, keeping your email account secure, and reviewing exported files before sharing them.
